It's hard to believe a month has pasted since our last article. We have not been traveling or camping, so this is just regular stuff in our lives. We attended three funerals in one week. That is never fun but something that happens as you grow older.
The long awaited start of NFL football finally arrived. It kicked off with a Thursday night game involving the Green Bay Packers. They won but it was a nail-bitter game. They won the next three games to be one of two team that are undefeated this season. They play Atlanta Falcons tomorrow night which should be another close game.
Lydia signed us up for a supper club. The three other couples met at our villa and we had a nice time getting to know each other. Later, we enjoyed one of Lydia's special dinners, grill chicken served with Alabama BBQ sauce. Each couple will host a dinner at their house in the following months.
Later that week we received an invitation to eat dinner at our former house. Since we had not been back since we moved out, we decided to accept as a kind of closure. As it turned we are a very enjoyable evening. The host couple gave us a tour of the house pointing out some changes they made. They are wonderful people who bought a great house and made it a little bit better.
The end of September marked the annual girls runaway to the Florida beach. A dozen women gather at a old style beach house for a long weekend of fun (no men allowed). What happens at the beach, stays at the beach, so details are at best sketchy. I do know that they always mark their calendar for next year's return engagement. While the ladies were partying at their beach house, a few husbands planned a golf outing at a nearby state park. The guys played golf, then spent the night before playing another round of golf the next morning. Because I had not played golf in six months, I was stiff and sore for two days after that weekend.
Watch for a big announcement in the next blog article!
