Lydia and I have always loved and enjoyed camping. Through the years our
family experienced many wonderful and memorable times in everything from tents,
a pop-up camper, a rented Winnebago, and a fully equipped travel trailer. We
even did several trips as backpackers, carrying it all into and out of
wilderness areas of New Mexico and Colorado. The kids grew up and moved away,
but Lydia and I continued to enjoy camping. Two years ago while our “big house”
was on the market, we spent four months
living in our 21 foot trailer while being golf hosts at a nearby state park.
That “experiment” showed us we could live in a tiny space, with a dog and two
cats, during the winter, and not only survive but actually enjoy it. Also, we learned that we need a larger trailer
to be more comfortable for longer periods of time. We found that trailer two
weeks ago.
Beginning on December 1, our new home will be a 33 foot travel trailer
we have named “All Seasons”, and we will
become fulltime RVers. We have already
started sorting our stuff into multiples piles – go to the trailer, go to
storage, sell, give to the kids, donate. The two bedroom villa we’ve been
renting for the past year and a half looks like a disaster area, but the piles
are slowly growing smaller. As happened before when we moved from the “big
house”, we’ll miss some things, but hardly know others are gone.
Giving up “things” does not include our family and friends. For the first year or two we plan to
travel/live within 250 miles of Atlanta, so we are only a few hours away from
family, grandkids, and friends. We have a few “volunteer jobs” lined up to help
us ease into our new lifestyle. As many
of you know, we have been very active within our Bent Tree community, and hope
to be back and still participate in some of the activities. So, all of you,
keep the guest room sheets ready!
We hope you will follow our experiences and travel by periodically
checking our blog shown at the end of this email. Please stay in touch and, if
you are in our area, wherever that may be, come see us.
We’re excited about the new experiences awaiting us and the friends we
have yet to meet. Life is a wonderful
adventure and happy is what and where you make it.
Until next time,
Jim and Lydia
