Decker Family Reunions

Just as the camping trip ended, we started the Decker family reunion. Our family includes all four of our kids, their respective spouses, plus the 9 grand kids. The last time we all gathered was at Jim's 70th birthday party two years ago. Our two Texas grand kids are scheduled to be with us for the annual Bent Tree Youth Fest at the end of June. Lisa Ann extended their trip with a earlier visit in Green Bay for a few days before coming to Georgia. They spent a few days with Ann and Hans, a few days with Melanie and OZ2 at Jekyll Island, before moving to Todd's house in Cumming, GA. and reuniting with David who flew from Texas.
Jimmy, David L, Ian, Lisa Ann, Nick, etc.
See the Atlanta skyline?
Todd bought a block of Braves baseball tickets for Friday night. The Braves hosted the Texas Rangers that night with a fireworks show scheduled for after the game. The game lacked any fireworks as the Braves managed only 5 hits and lost, much to the delight of the Deckers from Texas. We drove home after the game and arrived in Bent Tree about 1am.
I am not sure what time the Saturday party started at Todd's house, but we did not arrive until 6pm due to a long to do list of chores. The other part of our family from Senoia, GA (Lisa, Jimmy, Ian) arrived shortly before we did. We missed Francie as she had to work that day. Todd and his wife, Leslie, had plenty of food and drinks  for all of the us. The party group numbered over 30 including friends, neighbors, girl and boy friends plus 19 Decker family members.
We had our own one man entertainment with Todd's friend, Clay Coley, playing his guitar and singing his songs until well after midnight. Clay is a musician/song writer who plans to attend an American Idol audition later this year. Best of luck, Clay.  We're pulling for you!
Sunday started slowly with a few early risers while others slept off their respective hangovers. We had a huge breakfast about 10am before everyone headed for home. Lydia and I spent the rest of Sunday getting ready for a quick visit from Jim's brother, Bob and his wife, Kathy. They are on their way to Pensacola, FL to attend a graduation ceremony for their youngest, son, Matt. He will be commissioned as a Combat Weapons System Officer. That's the guy in the second seat on many fighters. He will start his duty at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska abroad a C-130 aircraft.
On Tuesday the four of us did a car tour of the north Georgia mountains, ate dinner at the Woodbridge Inn, then returned home for a round of Jim's chocolate martinis. After a hearty breakfast, they left heading for Pensacola. We were sorry to see them leave wishing the visit could be longer.

NEXT UP a chapter about Bent Tree Youth Fest that starts June 27th
